Grace Walk
Walk with Me and work with Me--watch how I do it.
Learn the unforced rhythms of grace.
I won't try to lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you.
Keep company with Me and you'll learn to live freely and lightly.

-Matthew 11:29-30 The Message

Hidden Treasures
One of the most satisfying aspects of writing
is that it can open in us deep wells of hidden treasures
that are beautiful for us as well as for others to see.

-Henri Nouwen in Bread for the Journey

A Modern Day Psaltery
David wrote psalms to express
what was in his heart.
Seeing no need to hide what he felt,
he wrote with sincerity, and with no hidden agenda.
What he felt was never taken against him.
Pray, dear reader, discern my heart between the lines.
Dinah Maria Craik couldn't have said it better:
"Oh the comfort -- the inexpressible comfort
of feeling safe with a person --
having neither to weigh thoughts nor measure words,
but pouring them all right out, just as they are,
chaff and grain together;
certain that a faithful hand will take and sift them,
keep what is worth keeping,
and then, with the breath of kindness
blow the rest away."

I'm Being Stalked: Encouragement

Taking an interest in what others are thinking and doing is often a much more powerful form of encouragement than praise.

- Robert Martin

Each day there is always something to be thankful for.

Before closing my eyes to sleep at night, I try to make a mental list of things to thank God for. No matter how the past twenty-four hours have been, doing this helps me bring closure to this one day on a positive note.

This is the day that the Lord has made...I will rejoice and be glad in it!

Well, indeed tonight there are many things I am thanking God for.

One of them is an unexpected encouragement that I received from a new blog friend, the author of The Redhead Riter blog.

Every Saturday, Red highlights one blog and invites her readers to "stalk" it, stating the reasons why she thinks it is a blog worth stalking. She even picks some of the entries she has read and puts a link to them, making it easy for her readers to check them out. She also posts some pictures from the featured blog.

For this week, she chose my blog Crown of Beauty as the featured blog on what she calls the Saturday Stalker.

To see snapshots of my own life - words I have written and pictures from my own camera - featured on another blog always gives my blog heart a boost. It gives me a message that someone out there is reading... listening... interested...and above all, cares.

I landed on Red's blog about a week ago after reading that my friend Mary Leigh of Blue Cotton Memory was her featured blog for the week. What I saw on The Redhead Riter's blog amazed me. She has put in very many interesting things there, truly a big investment of her time and effort. She has organized her topics into seven main categories... so that there really is something there for everyone!

A post she wrote about hope touched my heart, and led me to leave a comment after reading it.

As it turned out, that comment was the one encouragement she needed for that day...and the rest is history.

It no longer surprises me how God our heavenly Father opens up divine connections in our lives, and he has His own way of choosing how to bring that about.

Blogging has been a tremendous help to me these past two years of my life. It has helped me plow through the ground of my heart, exposing and bringing to the surface issues and feelings that could easily remain hidden underneath. There is something about words - spoken and written, that helps build connections between hearts.

The blog world has been God's way of bringing into my life other travelers on the same life journey that we are in.

Thank you very much Redhead Riter for being God's instrument to bless and encourage my heart today.

What a neat idea!! I'm going to check it out! Also, thanks for your wonderful comments on my Thanksgiving blog post. You are such an encouragement Lidj! In answer to your question about moving: we have just completed step one of moving to Japan. We sold most all of our personal possessions so that we could "survive" until we actually move to Japan in March when my husband retires. Right now we are in transition and living at our wonderful Christian friends home. They have a big house and several empty rooms. My husband retires in March and then it's off to Japan!

God Bless!

Dear Lidj,
If one is looking for hope, reasons to live & love, your blog is a wonderful feeding place.
The way you are dealing with life's greatest challenges; always including God in your decisions and feelings; you are a great role model.

And the wonderful name you are giving your loved ones; Full of Hope!
Imagine when your grandson is told the story of his birth, the name you gave him and the wonderful outcome..

It's really a gift for life.

I'm always thinking; now is the time for counting our blessings and wonderful prayer answers.

I think November 13th 2010 is such a milestone.
Dear Jesus, thank you for starting Andre Elijah, Full of Hope's life with multiple wonders.
May he always stay close to you and feel, he's a special blessed person.

Dearest Lidj, I somehow didn't notice the "encouragement" part of your title and was very worried to read you were being stalked!:)
Once I read your entire post though I couldn't help smiling and thinking that she couldn't have chosen a better blog to "stalk" than yours!:) It is a wonderful place to come and be uplifted so I don't blame her one bit!
Have a wonderful day today and a blessed week...
Praying for your beautiful family still.
Love, Colleen

Lidj,
Catching up after being out of town for a few days. Loved looking at the pictures! Oh, the new baby is sooo sweet! And I'm so glad to hear that he's healthy and home!

I just have to say that you deserve every bit of recognition that comes your way. You are such a faithful witness to the love and grace of our Lord. You are an incredible encouragement to others - I have so appreciated your posts, and your kind comments on my blog. May the Lord continue to make His presence known to you in a special way every day - and may you always know how much you're appreciated by so many...

...and me, too.

GOD BLESS!

This morning I was thinking about the love languages and how most bloggers' love language much be Words of Affirmation. The part humor part truth made me smile. I live in a household where all the boys have different love languages than mine (hugs, giving, quality time, service, words) - and one of the things I love about you and so many other bloggers are the words of affirmation thrown my way and to each other - because I believe that through encouragement from others, we are better able love others.

I am so glad you were stalked by Red! Encouragement from God comes from many different places and is like oil poured on our heads, seeping down, drenching our spirit garments, helping us to take those challenging steps that need to be taken!

Joy to your Week Lidj!

Lidj,

Thank you so much for your kind words.

It has been a pleasure to have the Saturday Stalker stalk your blog this week. It reaffirms my belief that we didn't just "happen" to cross each other's path, but that we were "led" by a kind Heavenly Father who loves his children.

I'm very grateful to have been able to "encourage (your) heart" as you uplifted my soul on a very hard day.

Sending you lots of love and hugs!

She picked a wonderful blog to stalk! Congratulations. I too have received such healing through the blog sphere...what an amazing tool the Lord is using in His kingdom to unite Christians all over the world!

I agree with my blogging friends. You have a blog worth stalking. Every time you write you share truth so openly and honestly. You admit when you are questioning and you share how God is working in your life. I learn from you often.

I too am thankful for my blogging sisters. I love the Hebrews verse and believe we are to encourage one another. Life can be hard but we don't need to go it alone. Of course, we have the Lord but it's also nice to have the online company of other sisters in Christ, isn't it?

Blessings and love,
Debbie

This is how I found your blog. I subscribe to your blog now because of the first thing I read on your blog--gracewalk. I am almost done with a Bible study of the same name. If you're interested, my blog has some spiritual things as well as others.
