Grace Walk
Walk with Me and work with Me--watch how I do it.
Learn the unforced rhythms of grace.
I won't try to lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you.
Keep company with Me and you'll learn to live freely and lightly.

-Matthew 11:29-30 The Message

Hidden Treasures
One of the most satisfying aspects of writing
is that it can open in us deep wells of hidden treasures
that are beautiful for us as well as for others to see.

-Henri Nouwen in Bread for the Journey

A Modern Day Psaltery
David wrote psalms to express
what was in his heart.
Seeing no need to hide what he felt,
he wrote with sincerity, and with no hidden agenda.
What he felt was never taken against him.
Pray, dear reader, discern my heart between the lines.
Dinah Maria Craik couldn't have said it better:
"Oh the comfort -- the inexpressible comfort
of feeling safe with a person --
having neither to weigh thoughts nor measure words,
but pouring them all right out, just as they are,
chaff and grain together;
certain that a faithful hand will take and sift them,
keep what is worth keeping,
and then, with the breath of kindness
blow the rest away."

I Will Lift Up My Eyes

Lovely Flower at Dusk
taken at the Prince Chakraband Pensiri Center for Plant Development
Chiangrai, Thailand

This is my last day in Chiangmai. In a few hours I'll be boarding my flight back to Manila.

As I spent a few moments with the Lord this morning, this was His clear promise to me:

The Lord is your keeper;
The Lord is your shade at your right hand
The sun shall not strike you by day
Nor the moon by night
The Lord shall preserve you from all evil
He shall preserve your soul
The Lord shall preserve your going out
and your coming in
From this time forth
and even forever more.

- Psalm 121

Blessed be the name of the Lord!

Hi Lidj,
Indeed, blessed be the Name of the Lord. On Saturday we celebrated the life of our women's ministries pastor who passed away suddenly. You're cut from the same cloth as I mentioned in my last post. You both inspire me to eagerly and persistently seek after Him.

How you bless me. I am truly humbled that you took notice of me, Lidj, in the midst of your full life. Just as I think of the people who were in close and constant contact with Nancy as most blessed, so I think of those you touch. What a God-send you are to me. Thank you for sharing your journey with us.
Love, Sita

Dear Lidj,
You are jumping all over the Far East
as easy as I'm taking a journey to visit my neighbors.
Some Jet setter.

I have a my own strong experience with the Psalm 121.
Serina was 4 years old, I lay by her side in bed. We had just sung and said our evening prayers.
"Mama, how far away is God," Serina asked out of the blue.
I glanced over at my Bible and
in a glance the words from psalm 121 were there:"
The Lord is your shade at your right hand."
I can still see the smile on her face, and her right arm up against the night stand lamp, creating flickering shadows on the wall right by her side.
"Is it true, Mama, Is God so close?"
I opened the Bible and read the blessed words.
I think she'll always now just how close God is. So will I.
From Felisol

Beautiful Word of God.
Beautiful Promise of Love and Protection.

I'm so glad you feel God's Word in such a tangible way, Lidj, it is so inspiring to me, and leads me to search Him out in the same personal way in my own life.
Thank you for sharing your gifts and thank you for sharing your relationship with God. It has helped me immensely.
Safe trip home.
Love to you,
Eileen

It's been awhile since I've been to your blog. (I struggle daily to limit my time on the computer in order to be faithful to tasks and callings that surround me.) But I HAVE been here often enough to know a little of your history and the faithfulness of God to you in times of grief and trouble. To be named alongside you in Eileen's post is humbling. Our writing styles are so different, but my heart's desire echos yours: to be a tribute to God my King, my Creator, my Redeemer, my faithful Father.

I rejoice with you in the marriage of your son. I am blessed to have spent a few minutes with you this morning. A portion of the Psalm you shared is currently on our church's sign this week!

Lidj,

I pray those verses over my husband and my son every May through September.

They work in commercial construction and are often on the rooftops exposed to the blazing sun and heat.

God protects my men.

And I know that He will shade and protect you as well.

Sweet dreams.
