Grace Walk
Walk with Me and work with Me--watch how I do it.
Learn the unforced rhythms of grace.
I won't try to lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you.
Keep company with Me and you'll learn to live freely and lightly.

-Matthew 11:29-30 The Message

Hidden Treasures
One of the most satisfying aspects of writing
is that it can open in us deep wells of hidden treasures
that are beautiful for us as well as for others to see.

-Henri Nouwen in Bread for the Journey

A Modern Day Psaltery
David wrote psalms to express
what was in his heart.
Seeing no need to hide what he felt,
he wrote with sincerity, and with no hidden agenda.
What he felt was never taken against him.
Pray, dear reader, discern my heart between the lines.
Dinah Maria Craik couldn't have said it better:
"Oh the comfort -- the inexpressible comfort
of feeling safe with a person --
having neither to weigh thoughts nor measure words,
but pouring them all right out, just as they are,
chaff and grain together;
certain that a faithful hand will take and sift them,
keep what is worth keeping,
and then, with the breath of kindness
blow the rest away."

Saturday in the City

Today Ernie and I went to Kad Suan Kaew, a mall in Chiang Mai City. The city is called Amphur Muang, meaning "Capital City." The flat where we live is in Maejo University, located in Sansai District. Chiang Mai is about an hour away. To get there, we took a green mini-bus (called a song thaew) up to Warorot Market, then a red one up to the mall.

Here's the day in pictures:

10:25 a.m. About to leave the flat...

"We're going down the road feelin' glad..."

...about to take a short cut through the forest park near our flat, here's my hubby with his winning smile...

... all set for the day!

... close up shot of the pebble walk ...

...and a spray of flowers just beginning to unfold...

... on board the green song thaew...

Finally, at Kad Suan Kaew...

...here's my favorite coffee place...

... Here's where we had lunch and picked up a few groceries after...

Yummy freshly-baked goodies!

...on our way home... here's a shot of one of the fountains at the lagoon around the Old City ...

...a part of the old wall of the Old City ...

...we got off at Warorot Market...

... a shot of Nakorn Ping River and Bridge near Warorot...

A true friend is ever willing to pose for a snapshot (still at Warorot Market, on our way to take another song thaew, this time a green one...).

... yup, that's the one (we've learned to "read" the signboard)...

...5:10 p.m. we're back in Maejo University... this is the road back to our flat...

... it began to drizzle, but it was a good thing, we were at the forest park already...

... and home was just a stone's thrown away.

We had a lovely day! Thank you for sharing it with us.
