Grace Walk
Walk with Me and work with Me--watch how I do it.
Learn the unforced rhythms of grace.
I won't try to lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you.
Keep company with Me and you'll learn to live freely and lightly.

-Matthew 11:29-30 The Message

Hidden Treasures
One of the most satisfying aspects of writing
is that it can open in us deep wells of hidden treasures
that are beautiful for us as well as for others to see.

-Henri Nouwen in Bread for the Journey

A Modern Day Psaltery
David wrote psalms to express
what was in his heart.
Seeing no need to hide what he felt,
he wrote with sincerity, and with no hidden agenda.
What he felt was never taken against him.
Pray, dear reader, discern my heart between the lines.
Dinah Maria Craik couldn't have said it better:
"Oh the comfort -- the inexpressible comfort
of feeling safe with a person --
having neither to weigh thoughts nor measure words,
but pouring them all right out, just as they are,
chaff and grain together;
certain that a faithful hand will take and sift them,
keep what is worth keeping,
and then, with the breath of kindness
blow the rest away."

Encouragement

"You can do it!"

Encouragement.

We all need it. In a world that is starving, crying out for kindness, even just a tiny drop of encouragement will go a long way.

This life is not an easy journey. Daily we face challenges, hurdles, disappointments, frustration, failures.

Broken dreams, unmet expectations.

Unexpected reversals.

Financial, health, and relational issues.

Deprivation.

Pain.

Crippling loss.

We would have become weary and given up, thrown in the towel, so to speak, were it not for a kind gesture, even just a random act, an encouraging word... a word in season that someone spoke to us.

This is one of the verses in Scripture that God sent to speak life to me at a time when I was just too weary and about to let go.

The Lord God has given me the tongue of the learned,
that I should know how to speak
a word in season to him who is weary.
He awakens me morning by morning.
He awakens my ear to hear as the learned.

– Isaiah 50:4

These past years God has led me to rediscover my true identity, and my true God given worth. It has been such a life-changing turn of events.

Because of this, I have decided that I will be God's mouthpiece to this weary generation, whenever possible, to speak a word in season to him who is weary.

And I appreciate those who do the same!

Maryleigh over at Blue Cotton Memory gave me a blog award, right on the first day of August!

I love blog awards because they encourage my heart. It is a message that says, "You're doing great, keep it up!"

That is why I never take any blog award that is passed on to me lightly. I acknowledge the giver, and recognize the effort and the kind thoughts that go with the gift.

While searching for a suitable picture to go with this simple post, I stumbled across this blog:

The Discovery

Wow! I must say I got a double encouragement today - from the award and from this new blog that I just discovered.

There are just too many good blogs out there, and I always have to resist adding another new blog to my ever expanding blog roll. This is because I want to be "truly present" for the blog friends whose lives I follow on their sites. But this new discovery, aptly entitled as such, will certainly be a welcome addition to my blog reading list.

Well, never say coincidence.

There really is no such thing as a chance encounter, only divine appointment.

Thank you, Maryleigh for encouraging my heart.

Again, I give my Creator all the credit, all the glory, for I am His workmanship.

In receiving this award, I understand that I have to pass it on to 15 new blogs I have recently enjoyed reading. The truth is, I don't have that number... so I will modify the mechanics a bit and will pass on this award to only seven others, in no particular order:

Have a blessed week, my dear blog friends!

BTW, Hafa Adai! I spent 2 years on Guam - loved it. Though I am sure it has changed much (Planet Hollywood, really?) I have such wonderful memories. Thank you for the trip down memory lane.

It is so true, you give encouragement to the weary! You lift up those who would fall down! God truly blesses those who go where He says to go, even in the most unlikely places. God encouraged me to create Blue Cotton Memory, but never did I realize I would be so blessed by so many other women ministering in the same way, but ministering to me:)

Lidj,
You're the blogger who everyone wishes she was related to, for you to invest your time and energy and especially prayer. A woman who walks with the Lord closely and bares her heart so He shines through and on to us. As another commenter put it recently, your blog reads like a book we don't want to put down. For me personally, your 'lessons' resonate with my own life.
Have a blessed week.
Love, Sita
