Grace Walk
Walk with Me and work with Me--watch how I do it.
Learn the unforced rhythms of grace.
I won't try to lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you.
Keep company with Me and you'll learn to live freely and lightly.

-Matthew 11:29-30 The Message

Hidden Treasures
One of the most satisfying aspects of writing
is that it can open in us deep wells of hidden treasures
that are beautiful for us as well as for others to see.

-Henri Nouwen in Bread for the Journey

A Modern Day Psaltery
David wrote psalms to express
what was in his heart.
Seeing no need to hide what he felt,
he wrote with sincerity, and with no hidden agenda.
What he felt was never taken against him.
Pray, dear reader, discern my heart between the lines.
Dinah Maria Craik couldn't have said it better:
"Oh the comfort -- the inexpressible comfort
of feeling safe with a person --
having neither to weigh thoughts nor measure words,
but pouring them all right out, just as they are,
chaff and grain together;
certain that a faithful hand will take and sift them,
keep what is worth keeping,
and then, with the breath of kindness
blow the rest away."

Wedding in Boracay

He has made everything beautiful in its time.

- Ecclesiastes 3:11

...a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance...

- Ecclesiastes 3:4

Weeping may endure for a night,
But joy comes in the morning.

- Psalm 30:5

This has been a difficult month for me, but I have decided long ago that my life will not be defined by my momentary struggles. Barb Osbron, a dear friend and mentor, now with her loving Creator in heaven, always said these words to me, "This too shall pass. There is a time and a season for everything." I have held on to her words of wisdom and have derived much hope and comfort from them.

It would have been easier for me to opt to back out from certain commitments, but again, that was not the road I chose...

For the love of Lourdes, a close friend of mine, two weeks ago I embarked on a long journey to attend her son's destination wedding in the beautiful island of Boracay.

It turned out to be a delightful time of physical refreshing and soul renewal, a trip laden with fun, and much laughter. A reprieve, that's an appropriate word to describe it.

For indeed, as Solomon, a man of wisdom writes, "To everything there is a time and a season."

We do not thresh wheat forever, there is a time of grinding it, and baking bread from it.

Weeping may endure for the night, but joy comes in the morning.

Share my joy, dear friends, as I tell the story....

On September 16, David and Kirsty were wed in a beautiful ceremony on Boracay Island.

David is the youngest son of my dear friend Lourdes, and I was invited to stand as one of the principal sponsors.

Boracay Island ranks fourth in the world's top ten islands and is one of the leading tourist destinations in our country. It is located off the northwest corner of Panay Island in the Western Visayas region, approximately 196 miles south of Manila.

Pastor Joe was the officiating minister, and his wife Marilou was also one of the principal sponsors.

Pastor Joe decided to drive all the way from Bacolod City to Boracay. Since Bacolod is located on the island of Negros and Boracay is on Panay Island, this required us to take a cargo ship to the next island. (The Philippines is an archipelago composed of 7,100 islands!)

Our journey as participants in this memorable event began at 2:30 a.m. on Thursday morning when four of us - Pastor Joe, Marilou, our friend Cristina, and I, boarded the Maria Beatriz ro-ro (short for "roll on/roll off") cargo ship bound for Iloilo, a province in the Island of Panay.

Below is the rest of the story in pictures.

Thank You, dear Father, for the opportunity to be an eyewitness of the favor You poured on my friend Lourdes and her whole family. We had prayed for this wedding, for it to be a testimony of Your loving grace and provision. We wanted You to be glorified through it every step of the way. You heard our prayers, especially the prayers of Lourdes... You graced us with Your presence. You touched us with Your mercy and compassion.

And now I pray for the road ahead of Dabi and Kirsty - go before them, keep Your hedge of protection around them, teach them the life lessons they need to learn, encourage them when they falter, pour daily hope into their hearts, strengthen them with Your joy when the road seems long and the end of the road is nowhere in sight. Let them remember this day of gladness... continually deepen their hunger and thirst for more of You!

Hi Lidj! What GORGEOUS pictures! I sat in awe looking at the beautiful pictures painted by God of the scenery, and the sand sculptures. I can't imagine having the patience to do those. The bride and groom make a very nice couple. She is beautiful. My husband was even interested when I called him in here to look at the sand sculptures, he was asking about where you were from and all kinds of questions about hte islands. (He spent some time over there during Viet Nam War while on the ship. (Navy).

God Bless you and the newly weds.

Sooo beautiful sister Lidj! The wedding, the location, people, food, everything! I remember when our nation was the no.1 among ASEAN nations. I know there are many unexplored places still...But what sticks the most is the hospitality and friendship from our people. I miss that.

What stood out for me was the love shared not only between the couple who got married but among you all. The unity, the special bond that comes from His gift of love.

Thank you for sharing your wonderful memory with us. God bless you and protect you sister. What joy it was! What joy it will be for our future Wedding also! Love to you.

Hey Lidia! It was so neat today at Sunday School my pastor preached about Water Baptism in Jesus' Name. I love it when I receive affirmation about a post which I have just written! Anyway, just like he said, "a person CANNOT be saved without baptism of Water and Spirit.

God Bless,
PJ

Dear Lidia,
What a lovely occasion to be a part of while the autumn storms and rains are whipping against our windows in the dark night. Tomorrow they'll be white stained with salt.

The wedding was more beautiful than Hollywood could ever have made it. The setting so perfect on the beach, the sand ornaments breathtaking, never seen anything like it. The cake a masterpiece, the married couple more beautiful than any movie star couple.

Best of all; you and Lord Jesus were also invited.
I just could think of the wonderful wedding we all once are to attend.
I wonder if the Lord will have this Filipino wedding in mind when he's preparing for the final and great one.
I'd be so happy.

You were looking so at peace and blessed at the pictures. Hope you still are in that mood.
Yours felisol

Not sure how I missed this post! But glad I finally found it. You look amazing. The orange is a good color on you, I think :)

You look relaxed and refreshed by your time in a beautiful setting with fine friends.

The sand sculpture is incredible! Not sure I've ever seen one with such intricate detail.

Well, over 2 weeks have passed since this event. I'm wondering where you are NOW and how God is using you....

Oh Lidia, a long way you traveled for this paradise wedding and I noticed your glow in all of the pictures in spite of the long trip there! Your hat and attire for your beach stroll was gorgeous! The wedding day sunset was spectacular and I imagine being there in person it had to take your breath away. It is truly a place like no other there. xoxo ~Lili

Lidj, I'm so thrilled that I stopped by! As always I love reading your words..... and this time I had China Doll read along with me. We were in awe with your photos of the beautiful wedding. China Doll wants to visit the Philippines someday. I think perhaps it's a young girls dream to marry her sweetheart who is from Manila.

Again, so glad to read about your trip.
And happy 3rd birthday to Forerunner!

Love & Peace my friend,
Lis
