More about Malapascua Island here
It's been almost a year since this blog was born.
One of the important reasons I have for maintaining and updating this website is to share with my readers the beauty of my beloved homeland, the Philippines.
As I share my heart openly on these pages, may my dear friends and loved ones be led to the truth that God has a divine and prophetic destiny for this nation.
When I first heard God's call on my life to be an intercessor, one of the things that was clearly impressed upon my heart was to be an intercessor committed to praying for my country.
I belong to a group called Intercessors for the Philippines. This is a nationwide group that has banded together for this sole purpose - to faithfully lift up this nation to God in committed and informed intercession, to partner with God in bringing about His purposes for the Philippines.
May my series entitled "I Love the Philippines" touch your heart, dear blog reader, from whatever part of the world you may come from, to kneel before God, and lift up this nation to Him.
PHILIPPINE FACTS:
The Philippines is officially known as THE REPUBLIC OF THE PHILIPPINES, or Republika ng Pilipinas, in Pilipino, our national language.
It is roughly 115,830 square miles, or 300,000 square kilometers in size.
It is found in the SW Pacific region, in the Malay Archipelago off the Southeast Asia Mainland.
There are over 7,000 islands in this archipelago, of which only 400 are permanently inhabited.
There are three main island groups, namely
-Luzon (in the north),
-Visayas (in the middle), and
-Mindanao (in the south).
The eleven largest islands make up about 95% of the total land area. These islands are:
-Luzon
-Mindanao
-Samar
-Negros
-Palawan
-Panay
-Mindoro
-Leyte
-Cebu
-Bohol
-Masbate

Thank you for visiting my blog! I love my "international" bloggie friends and am glad to add you to the mix.
While growing up, we housed a man from the Philippines for over a year while he was in Seminary. He was from Mindinao (sp?). His name was Francisco Bauzon and became a dear friend to me. I was only 6 at the time, he in his 60's. I still have such fond memories of him.
He was one of the kindest, most gentle person I have ever known. Can't wait to see him again in heaven.
Again, thanks for stopping by. You are welcome anytime!

Lidj, this is WONDERFUL! I can't wait to hear more. Thank you so much for taking the trouble to do this. My friend Amrita does a similar thing re: India on her blog (yesugarden.blogspot.com), and it has enriched my life greatly. I am praying tonight for you and your precious countrymen!
Hi Lidj,
Thanks for popping by. I am reading your archives a little at a time and am amazed at how my heart resonates with your words. I find myself saying, wow...that's exactly how I feel..or that is so true..or just tears well up as you identify a wound..or perhaps a longing.
You craft your words beautifully and as I shared with a friend, there is a tone of 'freedom in the Spirit' that rings through.
It is great getting to see more of your country. As I said before, I know several Filipinos...Vasquez, Rubang, Agbayani, Sarmiento, Patron...any sound familiar (-; ?
Do take care...taking time to grieve is very important...
Blessings,
Sita
By the way, how do you pronounce "Lidj"?
My desire is to someday visit you in your beautiful homeland!
If that doesn't work out, we always have heaven!
Good morning, Lidj! Sorry for that removed comment - I should do my editing BEFORE I post. Anyway, I just wanted to tell you that I thought longingly of your beautiful pictures of the Phillipines today when I had to take my dog out - it is six degrees F. here!
Interesting blog about the Philippines.
There are so much to learn for an old lady.
Actually second cousin of my daughter married a girl from the Philippines this summer.
She's living at the island while he work over in Norway to support the family.
For his sake I shall have to get better informed.

I came your way through my sweet blogging friend Sita's blog.
I loved reading about the Philippines.
I want to tell you that I'm so sorry about your husband. I read about his service and saw the beautiful pictures. He was a very loved and honored man.
God bless you abundantly in 2009.
