Grace Walk
Walk with Me and work with Me--watch how I do it.
Learn the unforced rhythms of grace.
I won't try to lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you.
Keep company with Me and you'll learn to live freely and lightly.

-Matthew 11:29-30 The Message

Hidden Treasures
One of the most satisfying aspects of writing
is that it can open in us deep wells of hidden treasures
that are beautiful for us as well as for others to see.

-Henri Nouwen in Bread for the Journey

A Modern Day Psaltery
David wrote psalms to express
what was in his heart.
Seeing no need to hide what he felt,
he wrote with sincerity, and with no hidden agenda.
What he felt was never taken against him.
Pray, dear reader, discern my heart between the lines.
Dinah Maria Craik couldn't have said it better:
"Oh the comfort -- the inexpressible comfort
of feeling safe with a person --
having neither to weigh thoughts nor measure words,
but pouring them all right out, just as they are,
chaff and grain together;
certain that a faithful hand will take and sift them,
keep what is worth keeping,
and then, with the breath of kindness
blow the rest away."

Update on My Thai Friends

Oy in New Zealand, January 2009

Friends are God's way of taking care of us.

-Anonymous

When Ernie and I were in Thailand, a dear couple, Ut and Oy, became our dear friends.

I have written two posts about them a few months ago to share how the relationship started, and how it has brought such joy to our hearts. While living in a foreign country, we experienced the love and kindness of God through these dear friends of ours.

This friendship has continued up to now, even with Ernie gone. We have kept in touch with one another, through email, and sometimes through SMS text messages.

Recently, I received an invitation from these dear friends to visit Chiang Mai again. They offered to send me a plane ticket, and to be their guest at their home.

The offer is sincere, and when God gives the go signal, I have a feeling that I will be able to visit my friends in Thailand again.

Last month Ut and Oy travelled to New Zealand. They sent me several pictures, two of which I have posted together with today's blog entry.

I thank God for the kind of friendship that He has given me with these dear Thai couple. It has been truly heartwarming to have friends who genuinely love you and care for you.

My dear friend Oy, thank you for your kindness and generosity toward me. You have touched my heart. I love you!

To have such dear friends!
I think God will comfort and inspire you day by day to get on after your tragic loss.
This trip may be a rich light into your life.
Time for a hallelujah?

Hello, Beautiful Lidj! I wanted to thank you for the warm thoughts and prayers you've been leaving at my place. God is so GOOD!!! I love these photos in New Zealand - it looks like such a beautiful country also. Your friends must hold an especially dear place in your heart, as they remind you of your time in Ching Mai with Ernie. Love and peace to you, dear sister.

My Dear Friend, Lidj, please forgive me; I meant no disrespect in using your given name. I knew that people called you Lidj, but figured it was something you would ask me to call you since it seemed to be an intimate nickname; I didn't want to presume anything.

In regards to my post, "Glory in a New Manifestation," I also feel as though the storms and responsibilities of this world have turned my head left and right. My desire is to look for the cloud of His Presence, and no matter what storm or responsibility, I will have His peace!

Dear Jesus, touch the depths of my friend, Lidj. She loves you, and desires for Your Spirit to fill her to overflowing. You are the only One Who touches and soothes the soul in ways beyond human comprehension. Encourage Lidj, Jesus. Do not allow the evil one to condemn her for feeling the pain of her loss. You cry with Lidj, Jesus; You do not disapprove of her mourning for her husband. Thank You, Jesus, for Your great compassion. I ask that Your deep feeling (Love) for Lidj be manifested in new ways, right now. As Lidj's deep crys out to Your deep Jesus, You will fill, You will comfort, You will empower. In the Mighty name of Jesus! AMEN!!!

It is wonderful when God gives us people with whom friendships can continue to grow and bloom even over many miles. You are truly blessed.

Dear Crown of beauty,
I visited "in my father's house" yesterday and tried to leave a comment, but I failed to get through.
Just want to say that the post was deeply moving. I think we have been blessed with unique parents, the two of us.
What a wealth a solid upbringing is.
God's greatest gift.
