Grace Walk
Walk with Me and work with Me--watch how I do it.
Learn the unforced rhythms of grace.
I won't try to lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you.
Keep company with Me and you'll learn to live freely and lightly.

-Matthew 11:29-30 The Message

Hidden Treasures
One of the most satisfying aspects of writing
is that it can open in us deep wells of hidden treasures
that are beautiful for us as well as for others to see.

-Henri Nouwen in Bread for the Journey

A Modern Day Psaltery
David wrote psalms to express
what was in his heart.
Seeing no need to hide what he felt,
he wrote with sincerity, and with no hidden agenda.
What he felt was never taken against him.
Pray, dear reader, discern my heart between the lines.
Dinah Maria Craik couldn't have said it better:
"Oh the comfort -- the inexpressible comfort
of feeling safe with a person --
having neither to weigh thoughts nor measure words,
but pouring them all right out, just as they are,
chaff and grain together;
certain that a faithful hand will take and sift them,
keep what is worth keeping,
and then, with the breath of kindness
blow the rest away."

I Love the Philippines-5: Ruby Tuesday Signs

Signs of the Times, Philippine Style
A Ruby Tuesday post

[rubyslippers+copy.jpg]

Originated by Mary/The Teach at Work of the Poet

I've always been fascinated by the Ruby Tuesday posts of some of my blog friends, particularly the one's I've seen on Felisol's blog.

It brings out one's creativity and ingenuity.

So today, I decided to do my very first Ruby Tuesday post.

The idea is to post one or more pictures of something red on a Tuesday.

Here's the story behind the pictures:

Last Sunday, Obedient One and I went to Trinoma Mall after church. We had a delicious lunch of crispy fried spring chicken at Max's, then later in the afternoon we looked at some of the shops.

The number of red signs and many other interesting red objects caught my eye.

Two musicians were in the lobby playing Filipino classical music on the horn and guitar. I just had to take a photo of them when they began playing Ikaw, a Filipino love song that Ernie and I loved...

A fresh flower arrangement by the escalator is just so lovely in its simple elegance...

A cozy nook serving the best tasting coffee I've ever tried...

A pastry shop...

A number of bookstores, teen fashion boutiques, shoes, and tee shirt shops...

What an enjoyable day my daughter and I had together. Isn't it a beautiful thing when your daughter grows up to be your best friend!

Here are some of the shots that I took:

Dear Lidj,
I was not aware of your participation of Ruby Tuesday.
You have indeed caught its spirit. I haven't seen so many stunning red business sign for very long.
They had such fancy names as well,
Graffi Tee and Res Toe Run took the price.
The National Book Store is a place I'd like to stay for a day.
Whenever we're in London, we take half a day at Foyle's. Just going there, it's all so neatly arranged, theme for theme. With a relaxing coffee shop at the top.

My daughter and my husband are my best friends too.
The ones I have to at least talk too every day.
I'm also fortunate to have my mother alive. We speak on the telephone every day.

I listen to the IKAW song, evidently a love song? A bride in there did not leave much doubt.
Oh, Lidj, every day new thing will remember you of Ernie and you great loss. But also that you were blessed with that great love. Many are searching restless through life without finding it.

I hope some day you can see your memories turn into pearls.

Love Felisol

dear crown of beauty,
well i have finally got here to read your ruby tuesday and you are right..it is so interesting.
i love all these shop signs and the dirffernt pictures that you have in the shopping centre.
in canada, we are not even allowed to take pictures in the malls or of any of the stores.
one time when donna was visiting mom golden and my sister, betty and i in niagara-on-the lake in canada, we were having a real fun time in a hat store as donna who is a real fun person was trying on hats and putting colorful big hats on mom golden.
lots of laughing!
well by the time i had only got about three pictures taken, the shop girl got after me and told me that there were no cameras allowed in the store!
oh well, i did get a few but i never did see such nice store pictures that you and obedient one have here!
may your tuesday be a bright day crown of beauty and i thank you so much for visiting our diane.
may the lord bless you...love terry

Beautiful-sounding song! I'm sure the words are beautiful, too!
