Call Favor Home

Misty Morning





For the LORD God is a sun and shield,
He bestows favor and honor.
no good thing does the LORD withhold
from those who walk uprightly.

You surround them with Your favor as with a shield.

I have been feeling the weight of the recent events in my family life, and in the devastation of the northern provinces of our country, including Metro Manila. Many families have lost not only homes, but loved ones as well. Tears would well up in my eyes each time I watched the news updates.

The difficult and painful task of rebuilding our nation lies ahead.

The difficult and painful task of rebuilding Obedient One's confidence also lies ahead.

And what about my own life, did I not need to rebuild it, too?



I woke up Friday morning asking God to touch me afresh.

Gently, a familiar song began to play in my heart. It was the song
Through It All.

I took out my iPod, and listened to the song many times over, suddenly feeling so overwhelmed by the loving presence of God.

God began speaking to me about the cloud of favor that surrounds my life.
Never doubt, my dear child.
I heard His reassuring voice.

Favor is what I have as His child. Never have the words of Psalm 5:12 been such a comfort to my heavy heart.


For surely you bless the righteous, you surround them with Your favor as a shield.

I let the words sink in, even as the tears kept flowing from my eyes.

The LORD God is a sun and shield... He bestows favor and honor.

To be favored means to be "regarded or treated with favor, to be provided with advantages, to be specifically privileged."

Many years ago, a close friend of the family, Jeff Littleton, had prayed for me. He said that the cloud of God's favor was upon me. He saw this cloud settle around me...

In many recurring dreams, I would see a cloud settle upon my home, and a still small voice has often spoken, saying, "
That's the cloud of My favor."

I had forgotten.

Until this morning, when I picked up Kate McVeigh's book entitled
The Blessing of Favor... and God allowed me to remember the promise of His favor in my life.

I had bought this book for Obedient One months ago. When I saw it at her bedside table, I picked it up and slowly leafed through the pages.


Expect favor.

Call favor home. Call the favor of God to operate in your life. Call your blessings home. Call whatever you need --your money or healing--home.

If you will call those things which be not as though they were, you will have those things that you call for.


I was beginning to be defeated. And weighed down. And was getting weary in the battle.


But He heard my cry.

The word "call" in the Greek literally means "to...summon." When we start calling for the favor of God, it has to show up.

It works the same in every area of your life. If you start calling for healing, healing has to come. If you call your body strong, it will become strong.



Not only were these the words of God that became so real to me. On Sunday morning, in church, guess what was one of the songs that were sung? This very song.

I'm carried on everlasting arms...You'll never let me go...through it all.


I couldn't keep the tears from falling. My Father was ministering to me, letting me feel His favor around me, around my daughter, around my fellow Filipinos who were going through such a painful time...He let me feel His favor like a shield.

The words of Pastor Edgar spoke to our hearts.
"There's perfect peace and calm in the eye of the storm," he said. "And the eye of the storm is where Jesus is."

Many in the congregation that Sunday had lost all they had. Tears were falling.

"Maybe you are asking now why the floods came to our lives, "
he said.

"
Beloved brothers and sisters, the floods have come for only one reason."


"To bring us to higher grounds."


How true it was. Maybe the literal floods did not reach my life. But I was feeling swamped.

How timely the words were...the Bible verses, Kate's book, Pastor Edgar's encouraging message, the song!

God used these all to speak comfort and peace to my heart.


Bring me to higher grounds, dear Father. This is my prayer, the cry of my heart. Thank You that You are the God of my seasons. You'll never let me go, through it all!

I was ind of relieved when you wrote that your family home in Manila was situated on high grounds.

dear crown of beauty...i know that even though your daughter was brave and that she knew that she was being protected by the lord, she will still feel scared for what happened.
she will need lots of prayer crown of beauty and you know all of your friends will be doing just this.
your dear country is being prayed for and all of the people that are still suffering and for the ones that are grieving.
it is a very sad state of affairs.
maybe there will be many of these people who do not know the lord, who will search for him now.
this is a powerful song crown of beauty.
and the picture of the misty morning reminds me that the lord can be found in there!.

Your reminders of Henri Nouwen and Thomas Merton were timely as I look to a Solitude and Silence Retreat at the end of the month. I'm getting many of both of their books to help me plan out my time. I appreciate your thoughts and connections. I love how the internet brings people together. You are becoming quite an encouraging friend.

This post speaks of a heavy heart that poured out it's burdens to the Everlasting Arms. I loved listening to the song tonight and reading your heart. My prayers are with you.

Oh, yes, dear, dear friend, God's favor is most certainly upon you! I knew it the first time I visited your blog. How rich and real Christ is in your life!

And His favor in you spills over to all who receive it! Praise God forever and ever!

I am so sorry for the damage of the flood and the loss so many in your country have experienced. I will whisper a prayer for you, your family, and those who have lost so much.

I have personally experienced a flood in which we lost most everything. God, in His mercy and grace, brought me comfort, but it was very traumatic. I would not have made it without Him!

Many blessings to you! Tomorrow, my husband and I will travel to Missouri to see our son, Chris. He returned from a successful missions trip two weeks ago and is now ill and in the hospital.

I love Hillsong and I love this song. I'm so sorry for all that you are enduring. I love how God is ministering to your heart. I have been thinking about His favor lately too.

My Grandma grew up in the Phillipines, in or near Manilla. When she was a little girl they lost almost everything in a flood including two of her siblings.

Read your comments and last 2 posts. So true, heartwarming, interesting and beautiful.Thanks Lidia. I admire your deep faith and trust in Him. He is indeed our refuge, strength and deliverer. I pray for your daughters safety, and all good things and blessings for you and your family.

My daughter Marie had the same bad experience a litle more than a year ago when she was accosted at gunpoint by a robber as she got off her car in our driveway one evening. The man stole her bag with cash,personal items, bank cards and credit cards. More than the material things she lost, the criminal stole my daughters peace of mind so that for the next few months she was so scared she had to call beforehand and asked my wife or I to watch her arrive and walk in our front door. It's only recently that she finally got over this traumatic experience so that she could now come home without asking us to come out and meet her. Of course, she now knows that prevention and being aware of her surroundings and people around would also help.

I was having internet trouble all evening, but now it past midnight 12.30 and th Lord enabled me me to open your page Lidj.

You crowned your post wih God 's Word which I needed to read as the burden of life sometime feel heavier thanusual.

Yes I feel for your countrymen Lidj. In South India more than 300 people have died in floods this month and the Maoists have wreaked havoc in several states.

But through it all we know God is in control.He will never let his people falter and stumble. He is our good Shepherd.May He comfort you and your sweet daughter whose spirit has been wounded.

I enjoy the honesty of your post, sharing your hurts and heart. I have prayed for your people and for you to feel the cloud of God settle on you this week. The hurting hearts of your people are also seeking hearts. Sometimes I find those who are hurting are the ones most receptive to the gospel. I am so glad we serve a kind Loving God who in his wisdom knows how to get our attention and wants us to look to him for our joy .
I am afraid the world everywhere has put Heavenly Father on a shelf and forgotten he is there.
But He is good and loving wishing that none perish . I pray your country finds peace and help will come but hurt lingers deep and only time will tell what comes out of the trouble and hurt.
We serve a living God that is able .Only believe ,he says to all..
