Grace Walk
Walk with Me and work with Me--watch how I do it.
Learn the unforced rhythms of grace.
I won't try to lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you.
Keep company with Me and you'll learn to live freely and lightly.

-Matthew 11:29-30 The Message

Hidden Treasures
One of the most satisfying aspects of writing
is that it can open in us deep wells of hidden treasures
that are beautiful for us as well as for others to see.

-Henri Nouwen in Bread for the Journey

A Modern Day Psaltery
David wrote psalms to express
what was in his heart.
Seeing no need to hide what he felt,
he wrote with sincerity, and with no hidden agenda.
What he felt was never taken against him.
Pray, dear reader, discern my heart between the lines.
Dinah Maria Craik couldn't have said it better:
"Oh the comfort -- the inexpressible comfort
of feeling safe with a person --
having neither to weigh thoughts nor measure words,
but pouring them all right out, just as they are,
chaff and grain together;
certain that a faithful hand will take and sift them,
keep what is worth keeping,
and then, with the breath of kindness
blow the rest away."

Walkway Reflections 2: The Betrayal

My Jesus,

Judas sold you out for a mere thirty pieces of silver. Really cheap.

But You, the Son of God, gave up Your life ... that's how much you value me.

How easy it is for me to be like Judas, forgetting just how much You are worth. And this morning as I reflect on that act of betrayal that was done to you, I ask your forgiveness.

Because I often forget. And I often take You for granted. And I often put many other things ahead of You...because it is easy to rationalize that You will understand...and You will forgive.

But today I really want to honor You, and value You, and treasure You, and cherish You. You are worth everything I could offer You, and still it would fall far short in comparison to what You have given Me.

But for You it's all You ask for.

Today dear Jesus, I want to tell You...Thank You for what You've done.

You're all I want...You're all I ever needed.

My dear friend, your prayer has me in tears! So often I too, just assume that He's well aware of my weaknesses, and He'll forgive all. But how often have I really given Him my best? Surely, He gave His very best for me. For all of us...

Lidj,

Truly Jesus was sold for the going prize of a slave during that time. He was worth so much more and still is. May we all remember this every day of our lives.

Not much to add, other than "Amen". I never want to forget the price Jesus paid for me. Costly grace!!
