Grace Walk
Walk with Me and work with Me--watch how I do it.
Learn the unforced rhythms of grace.
I won't try to lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you.
Keep company with Me and you'll learn to live freely and lightly.

-Matthew 11:29-30 The Message

Hidden Treasures
One of the most satisfying aspects of writing
is that it can open in us deep wells of hidden treasures
that are beautiful for us as well as for others to see.

-Henri Nouwen in Bread for the Journey

A Modern Day Psaltery
David wrote psalms to express
what was in his heart.
Seeing no need to hide what he felt,
he wrote with sincerity, and with no hidden agenda.
What he felt was never taken against him.
Pray, dear reader, discern my heart between the lines.
Dinah Maria Craik couldn't have said it better:
"Oh the comfort -- the inexpressible comfort
of feeling safe with a person --
having neither to weigh thoughts nor measure words,
but pouring them all right out, just as they are,
chaff and grain together;
certain that a faithful hand will take and sift them,
keep what is worth keeping,
and then, with the breath of kindness
blow the rest away."

A Special Treat

A doughnut heart and a mug of hazelnut coffee

On Tuesday afternoon, as I walked into the President's office of the university where I have begun working as a staff writer at the start of this month, Ernie's sister, Sue, said, "Lidj, say 'Yes!'"

Without thinking, I said, "Yes!"

"You and I are leaving for Manila on Thursday morning."

So, here I am... in Manila. I didn't plan on it, nor did I expect it to happen. But it is another pleasant surprise from the Lord, and my sister in law. Both my daughter, Obedient One, and I were happy to see each other again.

For Valentine's Day, she and her friend gave me a can of Krispy Kreme doughnut hearts, and a long stemmed white American rose. On Sunday morning, I enjoyed my time with the Lord, munching a doughnut and enjoying a mug of hazelnut flavored coffee.

I love doughnuts, and I love coffee. For me, friends, doughnuts, and coffee go together!

On Friday, Tina, Gina and I met for lunch at Mom and Tina's Bakeshop Cafe in Greenbelt, Makati City. Then we had cafe mocha and creme brullee at the Ayala Museum Cafe, just a short distance away.

Yesterday, Sunday, Obedient One and I ate a special Valentine lunch at the Via Mare restaurant.

Today, Monday, my friend Nanette, her daughter Kaye, and I had lunch at The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf at the Techno Hub.

What a special treat indeed!

I want to share some pictures of the special treat I've had these past few days:
