Grace Walk
Walk with Me and work with Me--watch how I do it.
Learn the unforced rhythms of grace.
I won't try to lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you.
Keep company with Me and you'll learn to live freely and lightly.

-Matthew 11:29-30 The Message

Hidden Treasures
One of the most satisfying aspects of writing
is that it can open in us deep wells of hidden treasures
that are beautiful for us as well as for others to see.

-Henri Nouwen in Bread for the Journey

A Modern Day Psaltery
David wrote psalms to express
what was in his heart.
Seeing no need to hide what he felt,
he wrote with sincerity, and with no hidden agenda.
What he felt was never taken against him.
Pray, dear reader, discern my heart between the lines.
Dinah Maria Craik couldn't have said it better:
"Oh the comfort -- the inexpressible comfort
of feeling safe with a person --
having neither to weigh thoughts nor measure words,
but pouring them all right out, just as they are,
chaff and grain together;
certain that a faithful hand will take and sift them,
keep what is worth keeping,
and then, with the breath of kindness
blow the rest away."

Death and life are in the power of the tongue,
And those who love it will eat its fruit.

- Proverbs 18:21

Today is Worshiper's wedding day....

In a while the hairdresser and the photographer will be arriving, and then the rest of the events of this day will unfold.

I do thank you, my dear Father, for how You have orchestrated every single detail of my son's wedding. Although I have not sought You for everything, I thank You that in Your graciousness You have chosen to overlook my shortcomings and my lack of wisdom in many areas.

Now my heart is at peace and resting in Your perfect plans as the events of this day slowly unfold, according to Your beautiful purposes.

Somehow I feel so serene inside, no turmoil, no striving. I leave the concerns about my future in Your hands.

For today, I will enjoy my son's wedding day, and appreciate all the efforts that have been put into it, and the love of friends and loved ones who have gone out of their way to make this day a special one for me and my family.

Above all, I want to enjoy You my Father as I realize that You want each day to be Your special gift for me, and this day is going to be an extra special gift -- filled with the unexpected, the wonderful, the simple elegance that my heart so delights in.

I revel in these words:

Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly
above all that we ask or think
according to the power that works in us,
to Him be the glory in the church by Christ Jesus
to all generations forever and ever. Amen.

- Ephesians 3:20

These are the words of blessing I release to my son on his wedding day:

My dear son,

I bless you today on your wedding day.

Your father and I have prayed for the woman that God has chosen for you - and I have no doubt that today, the answer to our prayers is being fulfilled.

You have been a good son, and you have the promise of being a good husband and future father.

God has given you many lovely qualities, but today I want to point out three important ones, namely:

- your humility

- your servant spirit

- your worshipful heart

main ingredients, I believe, to being great in God's kingdom.

And as I release you today, my heart has no regrets, only hope and thanksgiving.

I now bless you and release you to be your own person.

Continue to walk in the path of the eternal destiny that God has prepared for you.

I love you and I am very proud of you.

And to your bride, Chosen One, I say, "I welcome you into my heart and our family. I do not consider you as a daughter-in-law, but as a daughter. I have loved you from the day I knew that my son was going to marry you someday."

Dear Lidj,
How many different feelings and tasks you have to deal with, simultaneously.
It's almost inhumane.
You still are midst in emotions of loss and sorrow. You have managed to store your own feelings in a sacred room and this day warmly let your son establish his own family and fill that particular day with joy and hopes for the future.
I know you are walking close to God. You simply have to, to deliver such a heartwarming speech as you did for your Worshiper and his Chosen One.
May God bless then, now and always.
From Felisol

Beautiful sentiments, Lidj, thank you for sharing this.
I especially loved what you said about your son ~
Humility, Servant Spirit, Worshipful Heart ~
all Heavenly Gifts and something I am striving for.
I'm sure that you and your husband have instilled those attributes, those wonderful God Gifts in your son.
Love to you,
Eileen

Thank you for sharing this. It is special to see the pages of a journal that is so much like mine...prayers and just a record of where I'm at with God.

I wonder how many records of God's goodness exist in the world? How many pages in many different languages are filled with His goodness and love? How many pouring forth of hearts that long for Him? It's an amazing thought!

What a day that must have been and how wonderful the presence of the Lord was, undoubtedly, as the day took shape. You are proud of your family and rightfully so. You and your husband allowed the Lord to direct your lives as you raised your children. Thank you for sharing the special day with us.
