Grace Walk
Walk with Me and work with Me--watch how I do it.
Learn the unforced rhythms of grace.
I won't try to lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you.
Keep company with Me and you'll learn to live freely and lightly.

-Matthew 11:29-30 The Message

Hidden Treasures
One of the most satisfying aspects of writing
is that it can open in us deep wells of hidden treasures
that are beautiful for us as well as for others to see.

-Henri Nouwen in Bread for the Journey

A Modern Day Psaltery
David wrote psalms to express
what was in his heart.
Seeing no need to hide what he felt,
he wrote with sincerity, and with no hidden agenda.
What he felt was never taken against him.
Pray, dear reader, discern my heart between the lines.
Dinah Maria Craik couldn't have said it better:
"Oh the comfort -- the inexpressible comfort
of feeling safe with a person --
having neither to weigh thoughts nor measure words,
but pouring them all right out, just as they are,
chaff and grain together;
certain that a faithful hand will take and sift them,
keep what is worth keeping,
and then, with the breath of kindness
blow the rest away."

God-given Blessings

Women Taking Tea

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above,
and comes down from the Father of lights,
with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.
- James 1:17

She watches over the ways of her household,
And does not eat the bread of idleness.
Her children rise up and call her blessed;
Her husband also, and he praises her:
"Many daughters have done well,
But you excel them all."
Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing,
But a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised.
Give her of the fruit of her hands,
And let her own works praise her in the gates.
-Proverbs 31:27-31

In this post, I want to write about hand-picked, custom-made, and God-given blessings that I have received.

Ernie and I have two sons and one daughter. When my children were still small, I already began thanking God for the spouses they would eventually choose when they grew up.

In March 2008 First-born son brought home his bride.

In December 2009, Second-born also brought home his bride.

Our family has been blessed because of the two daughters that have been added to our brood. And July is the month that we celebrate their birthdays, Chosen One (Second-born's wife) on July 1, and God-given (First-born's wife) on July 10.

Indeed I thank Abba Father often for creating them and bringing them into this world, but July is the month we remember them in a special way.

Both sons of mine could not have chosen finer women than the ones they have married.

Our family has been enriched because of them, and I love each of my daughters in a special way.

God-given, you were indeed created by God to be a gift to my son, your husband, and also to be a gift to me and my whole family.

Chosen-one, among many other women you were the one chosen by God to be my son's wife, and hand-picked to be a blessing to me and my family.

I couldn't have asked for more. In giving you both to us, God gave the best, the ones He knew would fit perfectly, and blend beautifully into our family.

I admire you both for the way you are willing to work hard, walk extra miles, make a beautiful home for your family, looking at what you do not as a duty but a delight. I love that you do not make demands, but are always willing to give so generously of yourselves.

I praise God for the parents who brought you into this world and raised you, and nurtured you. Because of the love and example that they poured into your lives, you have become what you are today. A good wife and a good mother.

If there is anything that really touches my heart the most, it is the love, respect, and honor that I have received from both of you. In being a loving wife to your husband, and a loving mother to your children, you have already made me very happy. This is what every mother is praying for. But more than that, you have blessed my heart by the way you show honor and respect to me.

My dear daughters God-given and Chosen One, God will Himself reward you, bless you, prosper you, and shine His light on your path as you enter another year.

What a God honoring post. Your daughters in laws must love you greatly for I am sure you encourage them in person just as you did in this post.

Beautiful post about your DILs. Rare nowadays to have a true, loving relationship like that between MIL-DILs. But thanks be to God Whose love brings that kind of bond! May the Lord bless you and your family!
