Grace Walk
Walk with Me and work with Me--watch how I do it.
Learn the unforced rhythms of grace.
I won't try to lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you.
Keep company with Me and you'll learn to live freely and lightly.

-Matthew 11:29-30 The Message

Hidden Treasures
One of the most satisfying aspects of writing
is that it can open in us deep wells of hidden treasures
that are beautiful for us as well as for others to see.

-Henri Nouwen in Bread for the Journey

A Modern Day Psaltery
David wrote psalms to express
what was in his heart.
Seeing no need to hide what he felt,
he wrote with sincerity, and with no hidden agenda.
What he felt was never taken against him.
Pray, dear reader, discern my heart between the lines.
Dinah Maria Craik couldn't have said it better:
"Oh the comfort -- the inexpressible comfort
of feeling safe with a person --
having neither to weigh thoughts nor measure words,
but pouring them all right out, just as they are,
chaff and grain together;
certain that a faithful hand will take and sift them,
keep what is worth keeping,
and then, with the breath of kindness
blow the rest away."

My One Desire

But now, thus says the LORD, who created you, O Jacob,
And He who formed you, O Israel:
"Fear not, for I have redeemed you;
I have called you by your name;
You are Mine..."
- Isaiah 43:1

Six years ago today, first grandson Forerunner was born.

My dear Forerunner,
I have loved you even before I set eyes on you,
and prayed for you while you were being formed
and created in your mother's womb.

You were the new life that God brought into our family
just one month before your Lolo (Grandpa) Ernie left this earth.

Somehow, in the Father's scheme of things,
you were the little baby sent by God
to fill our grieving hearts with joy.
Your presence in my life was Abba's way of easing my pain
during my season of loss.

But today, my dear Forerunner you have become to me,
more than anything else, a reminder of God's faithfulness.

You are a product of much prayer...

indeed as Francis Frangipane writes,
the greatest good that having children (and grandchildren)
brings into a parent's life
is that it makes passionate prayer warriors out of us!

I have been listening to Lenny LeBlanc's beautiful song, One Desire.
Today, dear Forerunner as you celebrate your sixth birthday,
my prayer is that this song will be your song as you grow up.

Love always,
Nana

Abba Avinu, I pray for my dear Forerunner today,

May his heart be shaped and molded into a heart that seeks to honor You with his whole life,

and to follow after You with his whole heart.

One Desire

Chorus:
If I could have one desire
Before my life is through
Even in my darkest night
My life would shine for You

If I could stop the hands of time
Or make a wish come true
I would tell my heart to burn with fire
For no one else but You
This is my one desire.

You are my Saving Grace
Anchor of my soul
In a world that's turned upside down
I want You to know (Chorus)

You are my Faithful Friend
The One that I lean on
You always understand

With all that I am
I'll give you the deepest devotion I know
With all of my strength
I won't let You go
As I look to You above
I will give You all my love (Chorus)

So beautiful...your grandson! And what a blessing he truly is from Him. Happy Birthday to him sister Lidia and praying that the Lord will bless him with his richest spiritual blessings. How true! Our kids/grandkids make us not mind having callouses on our knees and hands. I only have one but my prayers seem to never end in each day...I join you in your beautiful prayer and at the same time, as I leave a prayer for you and your family. I love "One Desire" I always play with my guitar...Have a beautiful Monday there and God bless you and strengthen you.

Parenting pulls out of us things God hid within us, that needed just that for it to grow and bloom. Beautiful, love-filled, grace-filled birthday blessing for your grandson's birthday! They bring smiles we didn't know we have! Blessings to you, Lidia - and your growing family.

He certainly resembles you though I can see Ernie in him as well!
What a wonderful and true saying about children making us great prayer warriors!
May your family continue to be blessed by our most merciful and loving Abba!

Happy birthday to your grandson! Such a sweet face he has. Our Lord is so gracious and kind and knows just how to provide comfort. I just want to say that I love the song you posted. I cried as I listened to the words. I had to go to You Tube to save it. I want that to be the theme of my life; my own desire. When I read the title of your post, in my head I wondered what you would write. Immediately I thought of something I always pray. My ongoing prayer has been that my loved ones would all be saved and that they would walk with Jesus all their lives. I still pray that prayer daily. But I also want my life to reflect His love. He is my one desire!

Thank you sweet friend for posting this song and may you enjoy that little grandson of yours too.

Blessings and love,
Debbie

My twins turn 6 on Monday. I agree with you--my own desire is for them to come to know the Lord Jesus as their Savior. Good to see you, Lidia.
